Wednesday Wisdom: Jack Nicklaus on Achievement

To achieve success, the drive to succeed (ambition) is essential. The adverse of Jack Nicklaus’s popular quote below could be; Failure is largely the result of complacency and being content with one’s current level of performance.

So the question is… How will you raise your game today?

Wednesday Wisdom: Always Be Grateful

Good Day Folks,

Did you see Matthew McConaughey’s snazzy acceptance speech for best leading actor (Dallas Buyers Club) at the Oscars on Sunday night? A well deserved win for a truly talented actor and, in that speech, he referenced something that’s been a very popular Pinnacle Performance topic of mine for many years now, gratitude.

In short, he spoke about how being thankful and appreciative has a reciprocal effect that attracts greater success.  Here’s the full scoop along with Matthew’s post-Oscar interview from ABC News >  How Matthew McConaughey’s Gratitude Won Him an Oscar

I wrote (again) about the power of gratitude (Gratitude Is The Best Attitude) back at Thanksgiving and that’s the time of year this sentiment is most talked about and expressed in others.

However, true gratitude is not a seasonal affair. Your attitude of gratitude should be practiced year round for there is much to be thankful for.

From a purely business perspective, it is essential that your customers (and potential customers) feel that you truly care for their well-being (not just when you’re trying to sell them) and you’re truly appreciative and grateful for their business or consideration.

Always keep in mind (and heart) that when a customer purchases a product or service from your business, even if the transaction did not involve you, the customer is indirectly paying you. For, without them, there is no paycheck – no job – no business to be had.

Always Be Grateful.

Always Be Grateful

If It Doesn’t Challenge You, It Doesn’t Change You!

Anyone who exercises regularly can tell you how true this “If It Doesn’t Challenge You, It Doesn’t Change You” quote is. Those folks know that they must go a little faster, add a little more resistance, get that extra rep and push themselves a little further to gain muscle, lose fat and increase their level of conditioning.

Conversely, they realize that if their workouts occur in their comfort zone then they will not physically progress and grow. The same is true intellectually with your own personal professional development.

In order to break through to new levels of success you must challenge yourself to be better every day. Read a great book, make that extra sales call, give extra personal care and attention to customers, commit to continuous improvement and being a true student of your profession and you will change – for the better!

Monday Morning Motivation: Walk The Path!

Good Day All,

As all my Pinnacle Performance clients know, “Walk The Path” is one of my very favorite maxims. And for good reason…

There’s a big difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it.

A dramatic difference in results between those who think about it and those who do it.

A tremendous difference in performance between those who believe in PRIDE and those who actually practice it on a day-to-day basis.

To reach the pinnacle… Walk The Path!

A little Monday Morning Motivation to power your Pinnacle Performance week…

DECIDE – COMMIT – SUCCEED

Decide Commit Succeed

DECIDE

Decide to be better. Decide mediocre performance won’t achieve top level results. Decide you’re capable of greatness. Decide to refuse to lose.  Decide your time is NOW!

COMMIT

Commit to achieving your goals. Commit to regular exercise. Commit to eliminating negative and  accentuating the positive. Commit to progress and being better each day.

 SUCCEED

Success has a formula but the program only works if you work the program!

Arnold Schwarzenegger on The Mindset of a Champion

Arnold Schwarzenegger is the subject of this weeks Monday Morning Motivation. Regardless of what you think of his bodybuilding background or movies, there is certainly much that aspiring Pinnacle Performers can learn from Arnold about possessing the mindset of a champion and positioning yourself to succeed.

Visualize Your Success

Below is a short video where Arnold asks, “Why Do You Want To Be A Champion?” His answer is priceless…  one that should be put on your mirror and branded into your brain.

One of my personal favorites, I hope this short video inspires you to bigger and better achievements.

Make Each Day Your Masterpiece!

Good Day Pinnacle Performers,

Here’s your first inspirational maxim from John Wooden, The Greatest Coach.

“Make Each Day Your Masterpiece” is all about the here and now. You only get one shot at maximizing today for tomorrow it’s gone.

John Wooden taught his players to do the best you can each and every day. What you do (or don’t do) to prepare and improve today will shape and create your future success (or lack thereof).

Excerpt from the great book, Wooden: A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections on and Off the Court:

“Too often we get distracted by what is outside our control. You can’t do anything about yesterday. The door to the past has been shut and the key thrown away. You can do nothing about tomorrow. It is yet to come. However, tomorrow is in large part determined by what you do today. So make today a masterpiece. You have control over that.”

This ties very well into the Pinnacle Performance principle I cover in client training: Small changes over a consistent period of time equal BIG results. By applying yourself to be a little better in your behaviors and execution each day, you will become a lot better over time.

It starts today…

Make Masterpiece Wooden

Make a Great Day!
